Old fashioned buggy still used in some Amish communities around the United States. The new interpretive center is located at Rockome Gardens in Arcola, IL.

The circa wall has different time periods where you can come to learn about the Amish and their way of life. Pictured to the right is an Amish Interpretive Center patron viewing the 1700's through 1800's education center.
This is an actual quilt frame where the Amish quilted and pictured is an unfinished quilt being worked on by hand. Pictured far in the back is a dining room table.
A modern day Amish bedroom contains no electricity and most are lit by kerosene lanturns pictured on the nightstand. A place for the Amish father to hang his hat after a long day at work.
The Amish modern kitchen has no electricity and not all have running water but many local Amish farms do have running water. The refrigerator is powered by propane and by kerosene by other communities. The stove is generally gas powered.

The study room was a place for the Amish families to gather and play board games, the father to read a story, and spend time together as a family.

Rockome Gardens is pleased to announce the coming of the Rockome Amish Village concept.
Starting in June we will have an Amish owned furniture store housed in the conference building. 9000 sq feet of space filled with local Amish made furniture.
Also an Amish Gallery will come and be housed in the old 5 & dime store. In addition a Local Amish blacksmith will be here to shoe horses on certain days. In the future more local
Business will join our Team at Rockome Gardens.
